Operation  Smile
Children deserve access to the very best care available.
At Operation Smile that’s what they believe, that’s where they start.

Underprivileged children with facial deformities face enormous difficulties. Every 3 minutes, a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate and may suffer from torments, malnourishment and difficulty with speech. Many live as outcasts, often resulting in death.

Operation Smile believe every child suffering from cleft lip or cleft palate deserves exceptional surgical care. Their medical professional volunteers provide the underprivileged patients with free specialized care so they can live healthy and productive lives.

Each year for more than three decades, Operation Smile conducts hundreds of medical missions in 43 countries around the world. Every one of those locations is unique. They work with local medical professionals, governments, hospitals and other NGOs to deliver the children surgical care in their own culture and in their own language.

Since 2006, Operation Smile has conducted medical programs in seven cities throughout South Africa. Operation Smile South Africa, located in Cape Town, provides volunteer support, raises funds and builds awareness about cleft conditions worldwide and includes over 100 medical professionals from South Africa who donate their time. Over the last nine years, Operation Smile has provided free reconstructive surgery to about 270 patients in South Africa alone, including patients with more complicated facial deformities.

Proud Partners donated R25 000 to this worthy cause. The funds were used to give 5 children new smiles, hope and confidence.
